Stop for a moment and think about this concept: creating the life of your dreams.
I’m sure we would all like to create the life of our dreams right?
But…our big BUTS get in the way!
Let me explain… We tell ourselves stories, like: ‘I would like to XYZ, BUT I just don’t have enough money.’
‘I would like to start that new course, BUT I just don’t have enough time.’
‘I would like to start dancing (or whatever else you want to start), BUT I am just too old for that now.’ (This is one we like to use often; the good ‘ol old age excuse).
‘I would love to…BUT it’s just too risky.’
But this. But that. Do you have any buts? Write them down, have a good look at them.
We tend to carry on with our lives entertained (or haunted?) by ideas and desires of what we would like to do ‘one day’.
Maybe we feel disempowered and discouraged by our circumstances. Maybe we feel limited and unable to achieve what we want. Maybe we just don’t have enough money (for real).
This word ‘create’, it implies a sense of personal power. There’s no-one else, other than you, who can create the life you want because it is your life. So that means the power is in you because it is you.
You are able.
You were born able because it is your life.
It’s not like someone else was born with the ability to create your life, and you somehow missed out on the ability to create your life (do you see where I’m going with this?).
Almost like painting a picture; you are the one holding the paintbrush. You can paint anything you want, and I hear you, you’re probably saying, ‘Yes, I know all this, but…’ BUT NOTHING!
We often don’t like to see it in such a straightforward way. Sometimes it seems as if our circumstances take over, grab our paintbrush, and paint us into a picture without us even wanting to be there. As if we are powerless and we get stuck in this picture we don’t like (Hello…‘circumstances’… who said you can do that!).
The reason why so many of us feel disempowered, to create our lives how we like, is because we don’t even know we are holding a paintbrush in the first place.
Maybe that’s why the circumstances we don’t like got first dibs on our paintbrush because we weren’t paying attention to the fact that we were holding a paintbrush (phew, that’s a mouthful of paintbrushes).
When someone learns to paint they just start and also learn principles to guide them. And so with our lives, it takes work to create and we need to find ways to connect to our inner power so that we are not controlled by outer circumstances.
We can also just start and learn guiding principles that will help us create better lives for ourselves.
We have to get off our BUTTS and do the work necessary to paint the picture we want.
Take back the paintbrush!
