Do you ever try too hard to be accepting of everything and everyone because you want to be a “good” person?

Do you feel you need to accept someone because it is the right thing to do or part of forgiving them?

Acceptance can be a tough nut to crack.

Sometimes it takes time to accept something or someone.

Acceptance takes practice and willingness, it does not just magically appear in all situations.

Do you find it easy to accept people or situations?

To take some of the pressure off of feeling you need to accept someone or something straight away, can you start with tolerance? With understanding?

Tolerance and understanding are easier steps to take for wholehearted acceptance.

For example, if there is someone in your life that really triggers you, how can you possibly accept them if all you see is red?

Can you find a level of understanding of them? See it from their point of view?

Understanding where someone is coming from and why they do or say something will show more about their nature.

If we can start with a level of understanding we can pave the way to acceptance, if the jump seems too far.

Ask yourself: Where in my life is it difficult to accept someone or something? Can I find some understanding of them and their situation?
