You know when you go to a shopping mall you get your parking ticket and when you leave the mall you need to validate the ticket?
In this case it is seeking validation from others in order to feel significant.
Do you feel significant?
Do you look for importance outside of yourself?
Do you consciously, or unconsciously, expect others to ‘validate’ you in some way for you to feel like you are important enough in the world?
Just like a parking ticket.
It is good and well to receive positive affirmation from others, especially the ones we love.
When we start to base our identity on constant validation from others we forget about ourselves.
It’s almost like we are silently sending out the signal to others, ‘Validate me!’
Part of having a better relationship with ourselves is to learn to fulfill our emotional needs from the inside.
We can learn to validate ourselves and not need it from others.
How can you start to validate yourself more and fulfill your need to feel significant from the inside?
Don’t become a parking ticket, expecting others to validate you in order for you to be acceptable or significant.
