It’s a new year; a new energy.

Maybe you don’t believe in all the New Year resolution stuff.

Maybe you do.

Maybe you are still going through a hard time (shouldn’t it have ended with the old year?), and the ‘New Year’ does not seem very ‘New’ either.

Maybe you resolved things in the old year and you’re ready to go!

Wherever you are right now, whatever you have going on: maybe you can just start off with a willingness to look at things differently?

We are all going into the year with old and new ideas and desires. Big or small, we have goals we would like to work on and accomplish. Some require more input than others, and they surely make us feel a certain way otherwise we wouldn’t want them, right?

What I am learning, and would like to share with you, is this: as much as I want certain things and hold onto ideas and desires about how I want my life to be or look, and all the things I want to accomplish right now, I feel I don’t want to clutch at it so much.

Little by little, I am more willing to stop clutching my dreams/desires like a handbag that might be grabbed from me, or being so attached to a certain outcome, like a helicopter parent.

I feel a desire, no matter how small, to loosen my grip and practice surrender. When things are meant to happen they will.

Let’s all try to stop being helicopter parents to our dreams and desires! How can they grow if we try to be forceful and frantic?

Think of where you are right now: are you shunning it in some way? Are you judging a situation in your life as not right? From here is where you move forward to your next place.

Where you are in your life now is where you are. You are ‘stationed’ at this place right now even if it doesn’t feel like the ‘right’ place, or maybe it does feel right, which is great!

Wherever you are right now, whatever you have going on: can you start off with a willingness to look at things differently?
